In secret decision, doctors selected to examine Tom Benson
NEW ORLEANS - A secret panel of three doctors will determine the mental finesse of Louisiana's lone billionaire, Tom Benson.
WWL TV, a news partner of WBRZ TV and WBRZ.com, reported Wednesday, the court selected the trio but will keep their names private. A judge said information surrounding the exam will not be released.
The mental evaluation is part of a legal fight over Benson's businesses and his decision to eliminate his daughter, granddaughter and grandson from his empire. The three sued, claiming Benson is not fit to make sound decisions.
One doctor was selected by the family members who filed suit, a second by Benson's team and a third after a joint decision by both sides.
Doctors are set to examine Benson in the next few weeks and then report back to the court.
