In less than hour, jury finds man guilty of murder
FRANKLIN, La. - A St. Mary Parish jury found a Morgan City man guilty for a murder where the victim's body was found in an ice chest.
The jury found Darby Frickey guilty of the 2nd degree murder of Mark Berthelot after deliberating for less than an hour.
In November of 2011, a farmer found Berthelot's body stuffed into an ice chest in the Bayou Sale area. The victim was reported missing about a week before his body was found.
According to St. Mary Parish deputies, Frickey was Berthelot's roommate. He became the focus of the investigation after detectives found blood stains in Frickey's living room.
Frickey eventually admitted to police that he killed Berthelot but said he did it in self defense.
