Impairment suspect in deadly motorcycle wreck
FRENCH SETTLEMENT - State Police said they suspect a motorcycle driver was impaired when he collided with an SUV and died this morning in Livingston Parish.
Troopers said they sent a blood sample from Michael A. Skinner, 29, of St. Amant to be tested after the wreck on LA 22.
Investigators said Skinner was heading south on the highway when he tried to pass an SUV in a no-passing zone at the same time the vehicle was turning left. They collided, and Skinner was thrown from the motorcycle.
State Police said he wasn't wearing a helmet and died from his injuries. They said the driver of the SUV was properly restrained and had only minor injuries from the crash.
