GRAND ISLE - A spokesperson from PHI of Lafayette identified the pilot who died when his helicopter crashed into the Gulf of Mexico.

Brad Deutser said the pilot, Arturo Ignacio Lebron of Lafayette, was the only person on board when the helicopter went down 35 miles southwest of Grand Isle yesterday.

"We will continue to work closely with the NTSB to understand the cause of the accident," Deutser said.

Deutser said a rescue team recovered both the body and the aircraft from the crash scene.
