. . .Tropical Storm Warnings Have Been Discontinued. . .
Ida Update: Made its first landfall at 5:40 AM this morning on Dauphin Island with winds of 45 mph. It made a second landfall at 7:00 AM just to the southwest of Non Secour, AL with winds around 35-40 mph.
Ida has weakened to a tropical depression and is becoming extratropical. This means it is transforming from a tropical system to a non-tropical area of low pressure.
Winds have decreased to near 35 mph as it moves to the northeast near 9 mph. It will turn to the east later today as it becomes absorbed into a cold front.
All Tropical Storm Warnings have been discontinued from Louisiana eastward into Florida.
Also, minor coastal flooding will still be possible today. A storm surge of around 3 to 6 feet ocurred along the far Southeast Louisiana Coast and Lakes. Fortunately, the waters will slowly recede later today as the storm moves away, and northerly winds push the water back out to sea.
This is the last advisory issued from the National Hurricane Center on Ida!
