The remnants of Ida are stronger now than earlier this week, when she slid across Dauphin Island. Ida was absorbed by another low and is now a full-fledged Nor'easter. When these lows form, they are fueled by a fetch of warm air; remaining offshore, increasing and causing rain and snow along coastal areas. The areas most prone are the mid-Atlantic regions into New England. For the next few days flooding, wind damage and property losses could make this Nor'easter one of the worst. Other damaging storms are noted from December, 1992, when 19 people died with $2 billion in damage. A stationary Nor'easter in January, 1956 sent warm weather from New Jersey to Maine and ice in Jamaica.
