Iconic marina closes doors for good Saturday
MAUREPAS - An icon of Livingston Parish, Val's Marina, will close for good Saturday.
On Facebook, managers posted daily updates about the last crowds visiting and eating along with pictures that mark joyous moments in the restaurant's more than 50 year history. Mangers posted most of the menu is still available and will be open until 9 p.m. Saturday.
In December, the parish approved a deal to purchase the land where Val's sits. It will be demolished as part of an $11 million flood mitigation project.
Ninety properties will be targeted but not all will be torn down. Some will be raised above flood levels.
