PLAQUEMINE - There's a possible crackdown in the works on what Iberville Parish School Board members are allowed to post on social media.

An item on the agenda Monday night would have banned board members from talking about board issues online. The school system regulates how its staff and students connect online, but now wonder if the board that passed that should have to follow it.

School board member Darlene Ourso says Facebook is an easy tool to keep her constituents up-to-date. Not everyone on the board is as open to sharing information in this way.

At Monday's board meeting, members dug up a tabled discussion about if its members should be required to follow the same social media rules as the teachers it employs.

The topic took up most of the board's time, and the discussion again ended without a decision.

"I just want to know who going to arrest me or fire me when I post on social media?" Pam George questions.  "Cause I will, so who's going to come get me."

The board plans to discuss the item again at its next meeting.
