I-12 reopened after 5 mile jam near Livingston/Tangi line
HAMMOND- I-12 eastbound was reopened Friday around 5:30 p.m.
The interstate was a parking lot due to a series of wrecks and a previous closure near the mall Friday afternoon.
The traffic jam reached near the Livingston Parish line, about five miles in length.
State traffic monitors reported there were a number of crash scenes and traffic was also building in the westbound lanes.
This stretch of I-12 is still only two lanes in each direction.
Traffic cameras showed the area looked like a parking lot.
