I-110 South back open after debris removal

BATON ROUGE - Traffic backed up on I-110 South during the noon rush hour Tuesday as crews worked to remove more than 20,000 pounds of metal spool from the roadway.

I-110 South was closed to traffic at Capitol Access exit just before noon as the debris removal operations got underway.

Traffic officials said crews were working to remove three large metal spools, weighing close to 7,000 pounds each. The roadway reopened at around 1:15 p.m. Tuesday.

Motorists were advised to use the an alternate route while crews were on-site and until traffic related to the debris removal could clear. As of noon, the queue related to the incident had reached the Chippewa Street exit.
