I-10 West back open after wreck near Grosse Tete
GROSSE TETE - State Police reopened the westbound lanes of I-10 in Iberville Parish nearly seven hours after a wreck with two 18-wheelers blocked the highway.
Troopers said one of the big rig drivers would be cited for following too closely, which State Police said led to the wreck.
The wreck happened around 8:30 a.m. on I-10 West between Grosse Tete and Ramah. Investigators said a third vehicle was also involved in the wreck, but there were no serious injuries.
Troopers had to shut down the westbound lanes at LA-415 and divert traffic onto US 190 past the site of the wreck. The blockage backed up westbound traffic from Iberville Parish all the way to the I-10 / I-12 split in East Baton Rouge Parish at one point.
