BATON ROUGE - Traffic officials reopened I-10 in both directions just before 7 p.m., after a fatal wreck earlier today closed it for several hours.
It happened at mile marker 169 between the Highland Road exit and La. 73 at Prairieville. One person died after a trailer came loose from a pickup, crossed the median and struck another truck in the opposite lane.
DOTD said congestion was at Essen on I-10 East and LA 30 (Gonzales) on I-10 West when they reopened the interstate.
Drivers are still warned to avoid that section until congestion clears.
News 2 crews were at the scene of the deadly wreck and will have more updates tonight at 10 p.m.
