RAMAH - Louisiana State Police said a wreck closed I-10 East over the Atchafalaya Basin Bridge Tuesday morning for more than an hour.

The wreck happened at mile marker 131, several miles west of Ramah. The Department of Transportation and Development later closed that side of the interstate at LA 3177 in Butte LaRose to divert traffic off the bridge.

LSP said a car and an 18-wheeler were involved, and one person was taken to the hospital with moderate injuries and cited for careless operation.

Witnesses to the wreck told News 2 the car rear-ended the 18-wheeler and wound up under the big rig.

The interstate fully re-opened just before 12:45 p.m. DOTD said traffic was backed up seven miles behind the wreck site when it re-opened.
