WBRZ - Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE - A multi-car pileup on I-10 in Baton Rouge during the noon rush caused serious congestion for westbound traffic on the interstate system.

The wreck happened on I-10 West at College around 12:25, according to the Department of Transportation and Development. Baton Rouge Police said witnesses initially reported six vehicles were involved.

DOTD said it blocked multiple lanes at that location, and took an hour to fully reopen. At 1:30, traffic was still backed up past the I-10/12 split to Airline Highway on I-12 and Siegen on I-10.

EMS transported two people from the scene to nearby hospitals. The wreck is still under investigation.
