I-10 backs up in both directions as morning commute comes to close
BATON ROUGE - In a typical Friday story, the day's commute on I-10 is seeing traffic backups in both directions centering around the area of the Perkins/S. Acadian Thruway exits.
In the westbound direction, an accident that involved multiple vehicles blocked the left lane and caused congestion to stretch out to Essen Lane. As of 10 a.m., congestion on I-10 East stretched for roughly six miles from LA-415 to S. Acadian Thruway.
All lanes were open again on I-10 West at 10:12 a.m. with traffic still backed up to Essen. As of 10:40 a.m., traffic on I-10 East stretched from LA-415 to the I-10/I-110 split with traffic officials advising motorists to expect a four mile delay. The eastbound congestion wouldn't clear until just before noon.
