3:40 a.m. Update: All lanes are open on I-10 west at the Lobdell/ LA 415 exit and on I-10 east at the Ramah exit are open.

I-10 Eastbound and westbound is shutdown around the Grosse Tete exit. (Near mile marker 136)

An 18-wheeler has overturned and is leaking sodium hydroxide.

Sodium hydroxide is also known as lye, or caustic soda. It is the chemical base used in pulp, draining soda and detergents.

Troopers are diverting traffic onto the Grosse Tete exit and back on the interstate.

Traffic is backed up more than three miles from this accident.

A hazmat unit is on the scene assessing the spill. There are no reports of any injuries at this time.
