Hwy 42 expansion 2 years from completion
BATON ROUGE - The State Bond Commission re-approved millions of dollars to keep dozens of state road projects moving along. Several projects are in the Capital Area.
Juban Road in Livingston Parish is being expanded from I-12 to US 190. Essen Lane in East Baton Rouge Parish is being expanded from I-10 to Perkins Road. Highway 42 in Ascension Parish is being widened from US 61 to LA Highway 44.
Restaurant manager David Fatheree operates Burger Delight on Hwy 42. He said expanding the road from two lanes to four will bring in more customers but the construction work is hurting business.
"While business has slowed down, we're staying strong," said Fatheree. "We were closed for a couple of days."
The Highway 42 project is still two years away from completion at a cost of $50 million. All the road projects are paid for with bond sales.
