BATON ROUGE- A man accused of hiring three hitmen to kill his wife was in court on Wednesday. Hamid Ghassemi, the owner of a car lot on Airline Highway, pleaded not guilty to first degree murder.
Authorities believe Ghassemi paid three men $10,000 to kidnap his ex-wife, burn her car, shoot her and then bury her body in a remote part of St. Helena Parish.
The body of Tahereh Ghassemi was found after she had been missing for a month. Sheriff's deputies say cell phone records led detectives to her body in an area north of Pine Grove.
Detectives say Ghassemi was in the middle of a bitter divorce settlement worth more than a million dollars when he paid the hitmen. You can read more about this story here.
