Hunt Correctional employee arrested
ST. GABRIEL - Sheriff's deputies arrested an employee of the Hunt Correctional Center in St. Gabriel after they said he tried to smuggle drugs into the jail.
The Ascension Parish Sheriff's office accused Daron Toussant of drug charges after starting an internal investigation into his actions.
Detectives got a warrant to search Toussant's home in Geismar, where they said they found a quantity of marijuana, synthetic cannabinoids, and a handgun.
Deputies booked Toussant into the Ascension Parish Jail Thursday. They said his bond has not been set.
