NEW ROADS - Authorities booked a Pointe Coupee Parish high school coach Friday on charges of sexually assaulting one of his students.

Nick Domingue, 27, is being held on one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile and oral sexual battery. His lawyer says Domingue denies the allegations.

"There have been rumors and allegations," attorney Chuck Ward Said, "but there are no facts."

"There were allegations that one of the coaches was involved with members of his team," Sheriff Bud Torres said.

Domingue had been working as a biology teacher and coach at False River Academy for the last two years. The principal said the allegations were made after school ended Oct. 3, and Domingue was fired shortly afterward.

"We are about protecting our students and these are minors we protect their privacy and we protect them personally," the school's principal, Dr. Melanie Ezell, said.

The sheriff said investigators have talked to girls on Domingue's team.

"We've interviewed most of the girls on the volleyball team," the sheriff said. He asked parents to talk to their children since there could be more victims.

"Talk to your child, if something inappropriate was going on, you need to step forward," he said.

The school said it ran a background check on Domingue before he was hired. Ezell added she feels the school is safe.
