How to quickly bounce back from sunburns
BATON ROUGE - Dr. Z talked with News 2 at 4 today about dealing with pesky sunburns during the summer.
She said she's seeing a lot of patients come through with sunburns after going to the beach for end-of-summer vacations, some even with second-degree burns which are burns with blisters.
Dr. Z says to follow the "ABCs" to quickly bounce back from a sunburn:
- Aspirin - Or other anti-inflammatories right after getting home to help reduce damage to cells
- Baths - A cool bath like an oatmeal bath to soothe the skin
- Cortisones - An over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream applied soon after the burn, as long as it doesn't have any alcohol which dries out the skin
