House infested with bees for decades
BATON ROUGE- A woman who has lived with an infestation of bees in her home for more than twenty years is fed up with the pests.
The bees live in her walls and have been estimated to number in the tens of thousands.
"In the winter time it's not too bad, in the summer it's terrible, because you can't put the lights on in the house without the bees swarming in," said homeowner Ruby James.
She's tried to have them removed in the past, but the cost to complete the job is too high, so she's resigned to live with the bees.
"I guess I've gotten accustomed to it. We've got fly swatters everywhere and when we see them we just kill them," said James.
James is hoping for some help with her pest problem, but says she'll keep up the delicate balance of life with bees.
