ALEXANDRIA - An Alexandria man who had been serving a sentence under a house arrest program has been convicted of simple escape.
The Rapides Parish District Attorney's Office says 55-year-old Kenneth Bell Sr. was serving the sentence for a prior conviction, but Rapides Parish sheriff's deputies found that he was not home when they went to check on him.
Bell later was caught and charged with simple escape.
He was found guilty following a jury trial Monday.
Sentencing is set for Jan. 23.
