HOUMA- A Houma teen is facing vehicular homicide charges after an early morning car crash that claimed a young woman's life.
It happened just before 2:30am Saturday morning.
According to Louisiana State Police the victim, 18-year-old Amanda Doyle, was a passenger in 18-year-old Stephen Murphy’s pickup when he ran off the roadway near Savanne and LA 182.
The car struck a ditch and overturned. Police say Doyel was pronounced dead on the scene.
Murphy is charged with vehicular homicide, reckless operation, and possession of alcoholic beverages under 21 years old.
Murphy submitted a breath sample to Troopers, which showed his blood alcohol concentration was more than two times the legal limit for someone over 21 years old.
If convicted of the charge of vehicular homicide, Murphy faces up to thirty years in prison.
