NEW ORLEANS - If you're looking for a hotel room in New Orleans for the BCS National Championship, you're out of luck.
Hotels on both ends of the price range are already booked solid for the rematch between LSU and Alabama. Even hotels on the fringe of the Crescent City, like the La Quinta Inn in Metairie, were booking up fast.
"We are sold out a lot of the days. People are coming in early and we are getting overflow from downtown," said Palestine Riles, general manager at the La Quinta.
Even the pricier rooms directly in New Orleans are off the market. The Windsor Court Hotel features five-star service for $450 a night: what you get for that price is five-star service, and a prime location to take part in all the BCS excitement.
"We're a luxury hotel and we cater to an affluent clientele," said general manager David Teich. "They are coming out in force for the game."
Most hotels are also requiring two- or three-night reservations for the game. Tiger fans should also be prepared to rub shoulders with the visiting ‘Bama faithful. Hotel managers say they're planning to play nice, no matter what colors their guests are wearing.
"We're going to be as fair as possible, but there will be a lot more LSU flags than anything here," said Riles.
"Prediction for the game, LSU 24 to 7!" said Teich.
