More very hot temperatures are on tap this afternoon across the Baton Rouge area, but we will see some relief from from the heat with scattered showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong to severe at times with heavy rain, gusty winds, hail and frequent lightning strikes. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s and the heat index will be 100 to 105 at times.
The storms will stick around through the evening hours with temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s.
Any storms will dissipate tonight and we will have mostly cloudy skies overnight. It will be warm and humid with lows in the mid 70s.
