The oppressive heat continues across the Baton Rouge area today. We will be partly cloudy and will have isolated showers and thunderstorms popping up during the afternoon to evening hours. Some of the storms could become strong with gusty winds, heavy rain and frequent lightning strikes. High temperatures will be in the mid 90s and the heat index will be around 100 to 105 at times.

The storms will continue into the evening hours with partly to mostly cloudy skies. The temperatures will be in the upper 80s to lower 90s depending on if you are getting rain or not.

All the storms will end tonight and we will have partly cloudy skies. It will be steamy with lows in the mid 70s.
