Adjusting the thermostat at a church in Mesa, Arizona won't do any good since thieves stole two of the building's three air-conditioners. The units weighed 5 tons each. The pastor says the air-conditioners were stolen over the weekend before Sunday services and the lone a-c unit did little to cool down the parishioners. At mid-day, the temperature was 100 degrees. People fanned themselves with bibles and service programs. Police say the thieves are usually after copper in the air conditioners so they break them up and sell the parts.
