Hospital leaders meet to discuss ER closure
BATON ROUGE - There will be a meeting of the minds Wednesday morning to discuss the planned closing of the emergency room at Baton Rouge General Mid City. It's scheduled to shutdown within 45 days.
The CEO's of the four Baton Rouge area hospitals that provide ER care: BRG, Our Lady of the Lake, Oschner and Lane Regional Medical Center will all be in attendance for the meeting with Kathy Kliebert from the Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals and community stakeholders.
They'll discuss possible fallout from the closure, as well as ways address health care concerns in the area. Baton Rouge General leaders say patients aren't paying their bills, and they're being forced to close the ER because they're losing money with no way to fund it.
The meeting is scheduled for 9 a.m. this morning. We'll have the results later today on WBRZ News 2 and WBRZ.com
