Hornets release Pargo
New Orleans general manager Dell Demps says the Hornets have released reserve point guard Jannero Pargo so he can focus on rehabilitating fully from offseason arthroscopic knee surgery.
Pargo was signed shortly before training camp and was hoping to compete with Willie Green for backup minutes behind three-time All-Star Chris Paul.
Pargo also is a close friend of Paul's from their time together with the Hornets from 2006-08.
Pargo spent the 2008-09 season playing in Russia and Greece, then played 63 games for the Chicago Bulls last season, averaging 5.5 points and 1.4 assists.
Demps says the team and Pargo mutually agreed the 30-year-old veteran needed to focus on rehab.
