A person familiar with the situation says Hornets games will soon be available to tens of thousands of cable subscribers in suburban New Orleans on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

Charter Communications will soon be adding Cox Sports Television to its lineup, the person told The Associated Press Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the agreement is not scheduled to be announced until Friday. CST, which broadcasts most Hornets games, has been unavailable to cable customers in Charter's territory, which includes more than 200,000 residents in St. Tammany Parish.

The agreement comes as area business leaders and government officials are teaming up in hopes of securing the Hornets' long-term future in Louisiana.
