Homeless surveyed about the help they need

A group of squatters living under the North Boulevard bridge in Baton Rouge is getting some much needed help.

The organization Set Free Indeed surveyed the homeless folks to find out what they might need to get back on their feet. Along side the group, District 10 Councilwoman Tara Wicker announced her plan to help solve homeless in her district.

She wants to create a resource center for homeless people and turn abandoned houses into homes for people without homes. She said the homeless folks could help build their own homes in the process.

"You have plumbers, electricians, individuals that really have skills," said Wicker, "they will actually work along with volunteers to refurbish their own homes they'll ultimately live in."
