Holtz brings in first La Tech recruiting class of 21
RUSTON, La. - Skip Holtz's first recruiting class as head coach of Louisiana Tech is comprised of 21 players from five states, with a balance of high school and junior college players.
Holtz has taken over for Sonny Dykes, who left after last season to become the head coach at California.
Eight of Holtz's new players are from Louisiana, more than any other state. Two of them played at high school powerhouse West Monroe: receiver Paul Turner, a transfer from LSU; along with defensive back Xavier Woods.
Holtz says he needed offensive linemen and brought in four, including two from junior college who'll be expected to play right away.
The Bulldogs also have signed four wide receivers, three linebackers and two defensive backs, all filling what Holtz describes as area of immediate need.
