BATON ROUGE- As the Christmas shopping deadline fast approaches the area malls are filling quickly. So holiday shoppers have to be strategic to make sure they get the presents they want while avoiding the crowds.
"You don't want to come too late because we had to drop my sister off yesterday around three and you could've been sitting here for an hour just to get in and out of the parking lot," said Sarah Guillory, who was shopping for family. "It's terrible there's no spots and we just got here around 11:30 and the mall was only open for an hour and a half and parking spots were already limited."
Though, it's the large crowds that have helped boost sales in mall stores. After Saturday's rush, mall employees are breathing a sigh of relief thanks to big numbers.
"We actually had done better than last year as far as yesterday was concerned so that's always a good sign," said Rebecca Maynard, who works at a toy store in the mall.
But for many folks doing some last minute shopping, the big sales have caught their attention.
"If you don't find it in one place you just have to go to another to find it, so far the mall out here a lot of stuff on sale, and we're enjoying it," said Jessie Carter, who was shopping with his family.
To help out the holiday shopping blitz many malls have extended their hours to give you a little more time to pick up all the gifts on your list.
