Holden sworn in to start EBR's New Year
BATON ROUGE - Kip Holden took the oath of office just ten minutes past midnight to begin his next term as East Baton Rouge Mayor-President.
Holden did the swearing in at the New Year's Eve celebrations on the renovated North Boulevard Town Square.
Local attorney Leo Berggreen administered the ceremony to start Holden's third term in the office. According to Holden's office, the parish government plan requires the mayor to take the office on Jan. 1 of the new term.
Holden planned public inauguration events for this Friday, including taking the oath of office at 10:30 a.m. at the River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts.
