Hit and run driver turns himself in
BATON ROUGE - A man wanted for hitting a Baton Rouge police officer and another person with a car turned himself in Sunday, according to BRPD Lt. Don Kelly.
Kelly says Ronald Byrd turned himself in and was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison and charged with two counts of felony hit and run, four counts of misdemeanor hit and run, careless operation and driving left of center..
Officer Wallace Britton, a 1-year officer assigned to patrol and Rita Canty, 58, of Baton Rouge, both remained hospitalized after the incident.
