ST. FRANCISVILLE-  Governor Bobby Jindal helped officially open Highway 61 after major improvements through St. Francisville.

Nearly five miles of highway between Thompson Creek and Bains have been widened.  That means drivers now have four lanes of traffic from Baton Rouge into Mississippi.

Some business owners say they expect a benefit.  The Audubon Bridge connecting St. Francisville and New Roads opened earlier this year.

Some shop owners say that project, which ties into the new section of Highway 61, has caused a spike in business.
