High early voting turnout continues in Port Allen

PORT ALLEN - Early voting in the recall election of Port Allen Mayor Deedy Slaughter continues to be high.

West Baton Rouge Parish registrar Staci Ryan says 884 people have voted as of 10:30 this morning.

Early voting set a one day record on Saturday with 618 votes in person and 31 mail in ballots.

Slaughter is facing a recall election on November 16.

She's been the subject of a number of News 2 investigation involving her spending and personnel decisions.
