High drama on highway: chase, tasing and two arrests
WALKER- Two people were arrested after a high-speed chase on Florida Blvd. Wednesday afternoon.
Manuel Brown and Richard Bogan face a list of charges. Brown is also a fugitive from Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Both men are convicted felons.
Police said they tried to stop the pick-up Brown was driving after getting a tip that it was involved in a drug deal. When officers initiated the flashing lights on the police car, Brown allegedly began to drive faster, attempting to flee officers.
Police pursued the vehicle at speeds of 85 miles per hour. The chase went for about 12 miles before the vehicle crashed and officers were able to box it in.
"Our officers issued several commands for Brown to exit the vehicle which he refused to obey, yelling to officers that he was not going back to jail," said John Sharp, the public information officer for Walker Police.
When Brown was taken out of the vehicle, Sharp said he became combative and was tased.
Bogan complied with officers, and was arrested without incident.
Police said inside the pick-up, they found items stolen from a house in Killian.
Brown will likely be extradited to Alabama and Mississippi after disposition of the charges against him in Louisiana.
