Hickman gets 15 years for stabbing girl to death
BATON ROUGE - A district judge sentenced 18-year-old India Hickman to 15 years in prison for stabbing another girl to death during a fight last year in Baton Rouge.
Hickman had previously pleaded guilty to manslaughter in connection with the death of 15-year-old Eltonique Clark during a fight in Brookstown in Oct. 2010.
According to family members, Clark was trying to protect her younger sister from Hickman's knife when she was stabbed in the neck.
The judge also sentenced her to six months in the East Baton Rouge Parish jail for a simple battery charge. Those sentences would run at the same time, and Hickman would get credit for time already served.
