...Flash Flood Watch Until Thursday Night...
The heavy rain continues this morning! We picked up around 3-6 inches of rain since yesterday! This has caused some flash flooding around the viewing area and that will continue today! We start the day with more rain and temperatures in the 60s.
The showers and thunderstorms will continue to move through Baton Rouge all day. However, there may be some breaks in the rain from time to time. Any rain that falls will be heavy and we could pick up an additional 2-4 inches of rain just today! This could cause more flash flooding. Remember DO NOT drive through flooded roads because you may not be able to see how deep the water is! This is why the NWS has issued the Flash Flood Watch until Thursday Night.
All of this rain is coming from an upper-level low that is over Western Texas and a surface low that is over Southern Texas. Southerly flow ahead of it will push a warm front over Baton Rouge today and this will make is warmer, much more humid and allow for even more tropical moisture to come up from the Gulf of Mexico. Highs will be in the lower to mid 70s.
More showers and storms will be moving through town tonight. Some could be strong toward the morning as a squall line is expected to develop ahead of a cold front. Gusty winds will be the main threat. Lows will be in the upper 60s.
