Hearing for suspect in gunfire that left 20 hurt
NEW ORLEANS - A hearing has been delayed again for a suspect in a shooting spree that left 20 people hurt on Mother's Day in New Orleans.
A magistrate reset the hearing for July 11 because 24-year-old Shawn Scott was not at the court house Thursday afternoon.
Magistrate Johnathan Friedman said there was an apparent mix-up between the Orleans Parish Sheriff's Office and authorities in another parish where Scott is being held since his arrest on 20 counts of attempted second-degree murder.
Scott and his 19-year-old brother, Akein Scott, were arrested days after the shooting at a second-line parade. Bond for each of them was set at $10 million.
