Hearing for man accused of murdering grandfather
BATON ROUGE - A motions hearing is scheduled for this morning in the trial of Dustin Musso, who's accused of murdering his grandfather, setting the man's home on fire and stealing his car.
In March a judge ruled Musso was competent to stand trial. He faces first-degree murder charges in the death of his grandfather, Peter Musso, in May 2009.
Investigators said the younger Musso set fire to his grandfather's home to cover his crime, and had served time before for stealing a car from the same home.
An autopsy showed his grandfather suffered a blow to the head before he died of smoke inhalation.
The case is scheduled to go to trial Dec. 2.
