Hear the sounds of the holidays with the Southern band, choir
BATON ROUGE - You can get in the Christmas spirit this weekend with the Southern University Concert Band and Choir.
They're preparing for the 4th annual Yuletide Gift of the Spirit Concert. It will also feature a minister's choir composed of preachers from around the state. The concert is the final event for Southern's Centennial Year Celebration. Band members have been rehearsing hard to end things with a bang.
The band is known for going around the nation and wowing the crowds, but we want to take care of our family here on campus as well," Director of Bands Nathan B. Haymer explains. "It's a sacrifice, but we don't mind it because we're excited to share it with our fans and with our community".
Southern's Yuletide Gift of the Spirit Concert is Saturday, December 13th at 4 p.m. at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. The event is free and open to the public.
