Health officials: Cyclospora case in Caddo Parish
SHREVEPORT - State health officials have confirmed a third case of cyclospora in Louisiana.
The parasite has caused more than 400 people, including three in Louisiana, to fall ill since early July. Residents in Caddo, Bienville and Terrebonne parishes had confirmed cases.
Cyclospora causes intestinal upsets and flu-like symptoms. At least 24 people around the country were hospitalized.
Ken Pastorick, a state health department spokesman, says the person in Caddo Parish didn't require hospitalization.
Two of the three Louisiana residents said they had eaten produce in Texas. The third didn't remember eating lettuce or any produce before getting sick
