Health department begins flu vaccine campaign
BATON ROUGE - The state health department kicked off its annual "Fight the Flu" campaign today, urging people to get vaccinated.
The Department of Health and Hospitals held events Wednesday at health centers around the state, and at a state police office in Lafayette along with the Alexandria Museum of Art.
DHH Secretary Kathy Kliebert and Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne got their flu shots today in Baton Rouge.
DHH says Louisiana typically sees increased flu activity in January.
They say everyone should get the vaccine, but it is especially important for young kids, the elderly, pregnant women and health care workers.
