The director and deputy director of the Lafayette Housing Authority have resigned after a federal audit raised questions about the group’s finances.
The Advocate newspaper reports that LHA Director Walter Guillory and Deputy Director Jonathan Carmouch resigned at a staff meeting this morning.
This comes about a week after federal housing officials sent representatives to oversee operations at the local authority. Now all spending at the agency must first be approved by HUD.
A recent audit of the LHA brought into question several possibly-excessive payments and widespread problems in documentation for expenses, contracts and federal housing programs.
