Head of the class: La's Teacher of the Year
ST. FRANCISVILLE - Carla Jackson, a 3rd Grade teacher at Bains Elementary School in St. Francisville was just named Louisiana's Teacher of the Year.
She beat out dozens of the state's best educators to win the award. Now she will represent Louisiana in the national Teacher of the Year competition. In addition to the title, she also now gets to drive a brand new Mercedes Benz.
Carla says she was inspired to become a teacher after a visit to a friend's classroom. She originally wanted to study engineering, but changed her major to elementary education.
She stopped by 2une In this morning to talk with John Pastorek about the honor, her new wheels and her passion for teaching.
