ORLANDO - The mother of a Florida A&M University drum major who died says she is disappointed prosecutors didn't file more severe charges.

But Pam Champion said that she is glad charges have finally been filed.

Prosecutors on Wednesday announced that 13 people will face charges for 26-year-old Robert Champion's death in November.

Eleven of them face a felony hazing charge, which carries a maximum penalty of almost six years. Two will face misdemeanor charges.

Pam Champion says more serious charges would have sent a stronger message against hazing.

Robert Champion had bruises on his chest, arms, shoulder and back when he died.

Witnesses told emergency dispatchers Champion was vomiting before he was found unresponsive aboard the bus.
