Happy lawns and gardens
The showers continue today as high temperatures stay in the upper 80's. We'll call the high at 87 degrees under mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers through the morning and afternoon. A little sunshine will be mixed in there. Today will be similar to yesterday, but we are expecting a little bit more coverage today.
Overnight, it's possible for a lingering shower to remain, but most of the area will stay dry. We'll cool down to 75 degrees.
Toward the weekend, we'll lower the areal coverage a bit, but showers remain in the forecast. Temps will be below average until next week, where they'll be back to normal, about 93 degrees for the afternoon high.
Now for the 1000mb gorilla in the room, Tropical Storm Danny is westbound toward the Caribbean. Right now it's forecast to reach Category 2 status before interacting with a huge tongue of dry air (the kiss of death for tropical systems) and downgrading toward a category 1 by Monday. It's way too early to say anything really, considering it's closer to African than us as it churns in the central Atlantic. We have to see if it will even survive the trek. Just be aware of the situation and stay tuned to WBRZ for the latest and follow us on social media when we're not on the air. We'll have another update regarding the tropics later this morning here on WBRZ.com.
